World War Two Navy Aircraft Carrier Pilot’s Winter fight jacket in excellent condition. Cloth tag on inside left includes a “M-445A” jacket in size 40 made by the H. Jacket has two flapped pockets on the lower front secured by buttons, and full frontal zipper made by “TALON”. Top of right shoulder has 4 of damage which has been partially repaired, and the leather on the lower sleeves and lower back has areas of dryness and light cracks. This jacket was the Navy’s version of the Army Air Force B-3 or RAF Irvin. Most of these did not survive the war and the rare few that did are extremely fragile. This one’s inner liner and leather is not dried out and is in excellent condition except for a tear in the upper back of the leather. The Ray Bentley Military Collection who only collected the rarest and the finest quality pieces. If not for the tear in the back, it would be considered mint condition. The nice condition may also point be the fact that most of the pacific war was fought in tropical weather most of the time, so these Navy versions were used less often then those in the European theater. However, American Navy pilots did fight in North Africa when a Naval assault on the Vichy France Government, as well as in Scandinavia and in the invasion of southern France on the Mediterranean side used as a flanking attach also done on D-Day called ” Anvil” but later changed to “Dragoon”.
