Japanese navy WW2 Dive bomber compass. Zero type magnetic compass – Model 2. = Translation of first line on Identification plate. For type 99 aircraft like the Aichi D3A “Val” used in the attack on Pearl Harbour, and it’s replacement the D4Y1 Model 11 “Judy” (Suisei). Several other aircraft also used this model, including planes used by Kamikaze. It looks like the same compass used in the rare submarine launched foldable aircraft called the Seiran, but it’s probably not. Condition is unrestored, and the fluid is missing, but it functions correctly. Brought back by a Pacific battle veteran at the end of the war. The item “Japanese compass ww2.
