This item is in absolutely perfect/mint condition, never displayed. It is one of a limited edition of just 1,943 models worldwide. The dimensions are approximately 32″ (81.3 cm) in length x 11″ (27.9 cm) in height, including hardwood base. It is packed with authentic detail from bow to stern. The hand-numbered commemorative nameplate is hand-signed by the late Rear Admiral Ret. Called “The Fighting Lady, ” the U. Yorktown, was the greatest aircraft carrier of World War II. Winner of a residential Unit Citation and all battle stars, she played a major role in the Pacific and her aircraft sank the Yamato. Historical Details USS Yorktown CV-10 is an Essex-class aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. The CV-10 was initially named as Bon Homme Richard. On September 26, 1942, it was renamed in tribute to USS Yorktown CV-5. It became the fourth US warship to bear the name of a town in Virginia. The CV-10 was reconstructed to SCB-27A design by the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard which began in March 1951. It was recommissioned in February 1953. The CV-10 was reclassified as an “Attack Aircraft Carrier” and was redesignated CVA-10. The CV-10 has a modernized flight deck with an enclosed “hurricane” bow.
