I build 1/48 scale models looking to depict with the most realistic finish. Therefore I build them as a diorama to give realism scale, and interest to the viewer. The aircraft in this diorama is a McDonald f-3 Demon. It served the US Navy from 1956 – 1964. It was the first all missle fighter, with both Sparrow and sidewinder missles a d Remove Before Flight flags provided with the model. The model, by Hobbyboss in 1/48 scale, (80364), built in 2011, offers excellent detail from the one seat cockpit with ejection seat to the gun bays on each side showing off the cannon armament. Additionally provided are a naval fire engine, highly detailed, a scratch built boarding ladder and a pilot figure with a helmet sitting on the steps! The diorama is finished with a hand built carrier deck, with numerous metal tie downs displayed. A photo backdrop makes you feel you are there. See last two photos. This diorama would be a welcomed addition to any collection!
