BBI / Blue Box Toys 1/18 Scale Japanese A6M Type “O” Fighter. This model depicts aircraft AI-154 as flown off of the carrier Akagi on 7 December, 1941. Flown by Pilot Officer 1st Class Takeshi Hirano, AI-154 was hit by ground fire while strafing Hickam Field and crashed into the entrance of the Ordinance Machine Shop at Fort Kamehameha after clipping a palm tree. Pilot Officer Hirano was killed as were 4 others on the ground. This model was used for display purposes only, and sat on a shelf in my office for years. It has never been played with. It has been placed back in the original box, with the original packing materials and instructions. The pilot figure is also included. The box is in excellent condition with minimal shelf/storage wear. The pictures are of the actual model before it was reboxed…. The only issue with this model is that it came with 2 right side horizontal stabilizers. I simply turned one over, reversing it and put the model together. It is not noticeable unless you are looking for it but I always make it a point to be up front and list any defects… There are several pictures of the tail section of the model and you can clearly see the left stabilizer when assembled.
